The New Media Technologies:Overview and Research Framework

The paper of the new media technologies gave an an overview and analysis of new media from different perspectives. The paper had alot of information that was interesting to read. The paper itself had alof of explanations of new media from different perspectives and it was interesting to see each different side. The part of the paper that talks about five c’s which are communication, collaboration, community, creativity, and convergence, was also interesting to read since they talked about each in detail. New media and old media can be compared together and to read that was interesting because some forms of old media such as the regular tv and such can be used with new media such as people can text and it appears on a tv show for that viewer audiences. Business do have to be up to date with the new media spanning very quickly in this age and this can be a turn around for some companies or a downfall for some. The information on new media is informative but i would think that this subject can change daily so more informaton on this subject would have to be reviewed more but overall the paper was interesting to read

Sara & Melissa's Presentation

sara's and melissa's presentation on social networking was very informative and interesting to learn about the different social networking networks people use. It was interesting to hear that friendster is very big in asia and that is because all people around the world adpot different social networks to use withing their friends and society itself. It is true when they talked about the drawbacks on using these networks where sometimes people may be stalked or information may get out of hand within these networks and how companies use these networks to possbily keep tabs on certain employees and people they know. social networking will be expanding more and more for the future years to come as Sara and melissa stated in their presentations. Both presentations were very good and very informative as i said before. The topic itself is very important for us to learn about different situations using social networking and these presentations were reliable to use for our knowledge

Vincent's Presentation Comments

vincent's presentation was very interesting to see what blogs were used for and if they can be helpful or vice versa. its was interesting to hear the stories being told by vincent of how people can say alot of things on their blogs since we have freedom of speech but we do have to be careful what we do put on our blogs because it can be affending and also lead to court cases if it mistunderstand to interpret. Blogs are useful alot for studies and for group meetings. it can be very reliable for companies to use also and for advertising as vincent said. the presentation itself was very simple and good to hear. alot of information was given and reliable

Virtual Reality Presentation

As of today i have talked about different applications and impacts that virtual reality has on us in the past and today. Virtual reality can be used to treat different social phobias and also used for training simulations in a disaster environment, resource environment, or everyday living environments. the simulation is a efficient to show and teach people how to respond to different disasters or trying to build a building etc. ADMS is a simulation system team which provide training and programs for these features. I also talked about secondlife where people can actually get together in a virtual room as in a conference or group meeting and talk about different work productivity and other evaluations. Virtual Reality will become even more efficient in the future since technology is getting more and more advance each day.

Comments about Classmates Presentations

overall the presentations were good.even though i missed the 2nd set of them my other classmates told me they were good also. its interesting to see different new media being used for many different activities. the music new media was interesting as well, i didnt know they had many different kinds of cd's they make.2nd life is interesting also because people can communicate with each other from work schedules so that they can do meetings. The social networking presentations wheren intereseting also. Flickr was good also because there is actually a site dedicated for your photos which is useful. overall the presentations were informational and good to view

Assignment 2 TechTalk Roundtable

Well my presentation was about the skype and vonage voip interface protocol. Basically talked about how much each service and people use skype and vonage. Basically skype has way more users and sounds better to use over the internet while vonage has been having problem with their service and losing some customers because of lawsuits.

how sticky is facebook reponse.

well this article was very intriguing to read and this is because of the fact my friend tried to delete his facebook and he wasnt able to since he was hacked. when he was first hacked he deleted it but later on in reality his facebook account was still in effect after he came back.to me this is a privacy issue and if you want to be able to delete ur facebook you should be able to without no problem.if people can hack other accounts and facebook leaves ur account still active for them then your profile can be a target.it isnt right for facebook to save their information on you.if the person wants to delete their account and come back then that person should just fill everything from scratch. its crazy to see the remarks some people have to do to fully delete their facebook.over 2500 steps well thats ridculous to do for deleting a facebook lol.
